Since 2000, Northeastern has sent hundreds of students to Israel through Taglit Birthright-Israel. In the summer of 2007, Northeastern Hillel joined forces with Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Oranim to be part of an initiative to quadruple the number of students going to Israel from Northeastern. In August 2007, Nathan Ciccolo, was hired to be the Israel Birthright Coordinator to recruit a full bus of students for trips in December and May.
