Northeastern Hillel hosts the annual Jewish Community Expo, a large regional event that showcases over seventy-five vendors and organizations from around the East Coast, including graduate and Israel programs, attended by several hundred interested students. On campus, students from Hillel are creating a new student organization to advocate for Israel. In December and May, Hillel sends students on free trips to Israel through Israel Birthright, a ten-day trip to experience Israel from historical Jerusalem to modern day Tel Aviv. This program is available to any Jewish student who has never traveled to Israel on a peer-group trip. A new Israel advocacy group was created in 2003 called SFIN (Students for Israel at Northeastern) which creates programs and advocates for Israel on campus. The Hillel staff works with the co-op division to arrange working situations in Israel and year-abroad programs. Around the corner and around the world, Northeastern’s Jewish students are active and engaged.
